International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) is the authoritative global organization for the development of world-class professional standards in management consulting. ICMCI is recognised as an NGO by the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) and awarded a Special Consultative Status.

Institute of Business
Consultancy (IBC), UK
The IBC is the professional body for all consultants and business advisers, designed to raise standards of professional practice. It is formed by the merger of the Institute of Business Advisers (IBA) and the Institute of Management Consultancy (IMC).
The IBC is a founding member of the ICMCI. It is the only Professional Body for Management consultants in the UK. Therefore it sets, maintains and indeed raises the standards of both professionalism and competence for the profession, as well as it ensures that its members work to the Institute's professional code of conduct.

What is Premium
Practice?
A
PREMIER Practice is a
management consultancy that is recognised by
the Institute for the highest standards of
professionalism and competence. It has a
significant number of consultants who are
members of IMC UK and an agreed proportion
who have achieved the Certified Management
Consultant award (CMC®).
As per early 2007, there are 142 member
firms recognised by the institute. However,
only 21 firms out of them have received
“Premier Practice” status. |

What is Certified
Management Consultant (CMC)?
When a member institute of
the ICMCI awards a “Certified Management
Consultant” (CMC) designation to a
consultant, it means that the consultant
has met world class standards of
competence, ethics and independence, and
is eligible for reciprocity between ICMCI
member institutes.
The CMC is the only
internationally recognised award for
competence in the UK . It is in addition
recognised in around 44 countries, which
belong to the ICMCI. |

Statistics
- The total number of consultant members in ICMCI member institutes in 44 countries is over (24,500) out of which 37% (9,000) are CMC’s and FIMC’s.
- The majority of the
CMC’s and FIMC’s are based in UK, USA,
and Canada. They consist of around 35%
(8,600) of the total consultant members
and 53% (4,800) of the total CMC’s and
FIMC’s.
